Choirs

The female vocal ensemble "Cantus Arte" was created in October 2013 at the Teloglion Foundation for the Arts on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Richard Wagner and Giuseppe Verdi, with Alkistis Toya's voice-guiding conductor and conductor. The ensemble began its tour in the music field with excerpts from Verdi's operas, while studying excerpts from musicals, Greek operettas and songs written for the Theater. The first concert of the ensemble at the Teloglion Foundation was the warm acceptance of the world, which was a lever for its continuation. The members are constantly growing (about 40 members this year) and the cover versions of the excerpts are trunks. From January 2018 Cantus Arte is officially the choir of the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art. During this time he has organized a choir festival at the Teloglion Foundation of Arts and Letters of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and has participated in numerous festivals and events in Greece. Last September, she participated in the International Festival - Intercultur competition in Corfu, where she won the bronze medal. The choir is accompanied by Andreas Grivas-Koutropoulos.

The Choir of Vapopouleio Spiritual Center was created in 2012.

It was founded by Mr. Papazachari Dimitris, who together with the conductor Pratsinakis Ioannis created an initially small but very dynamic vocal ensemble.

Today it has evolved into a larger choral figure, based in the Vafopouleio Cultural Center, with the decision of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, is now its official choir and operates under its hospitable roof.

Botanic Exhibition

The Botanical Treasure of the Mount Athos Peninsula

Mount Athos is considered to be the most important site of Orthodox monasticism.  It has had a continuous history for more than ten centuries since its establishment. The uniqueness of the natural environment of Mount Athos is due to many of its geographical features.  The peninsula is remote, jutting out into the sea and containing a great variety of geological and stone formations.  This rugged terrain is a mosaic of natural microclimates.  The entire peninsula has never been disturbed by nomadic animal grazing.

Mount Athos is a place where the harmonic relationship between man and the natural environment sets a wonderful example.  Over the ages, the monks were protectors of their natural environment and considered it to be a part of their spiritual duty.

This exhibition demonstrates the botanical treasure of the Mount Athos peninsula which is made up of several botanical types such as Mediterranean, Balkan, European, Euro-Siberian and Eastern plant species. There are also Eastern Mediterranean endemic species. According to Babalonas 1997, the flora of Mount Athos boasts 1,453 plant taxa which represent approximately one quarter of the Greek flora. Among them there are 34 rare endemic species.

The Mount Athos Botanical Collection is a multi-year effort by both monks and civilians who are fueled by respect and love for this natural heritage.  The Mount Athos Center embraces this effort and promotes its success.
